About Grounded Path Academy

Built by someone who's been in the room — not just studied it from the outside.

Grounded Path Academy was built by Tori Hatter-Smith — a Licensed Addiction Counselor and Program Manager who's spent years in the trenches of behavioral health, criminal justice reentry, and recovery support in Portland, Oregon. This isn't textbook stuff. It's real-world knowledge, designed to meet people where they are.

Tori serves as the Program Manager for the Karibu program at Central City Concern — a culturally specific transitional facility supporting Black men involved in or at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system. Her work is deeply rooted in community, equity, and practical support that actually moves the needle.

She also conducts Alcohol and Drug evaluations and Bariatric Presurgical Mental Status Assessments through A New Approach Behavioral Health, LLC — bringing clinical precision to some of life's most critical moments.

Her expertise spans addiction recovery, criminal justice reentry, Black community behavioral health, substance use evaluation, and mental health counseling. She holds licensure as a Licensed Addiction Counselor and is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor.

Grounded Path Academy is the extension of that work — a place to share what she knows, so more people can access the tools that actually help.
